Soundsmith Counter Intuitive for VPI Tonearms Allows for Highly Accurate Tracking Force and Azimuth Settings
Winner of The Absolute Sound‘s Editors’ Choice Award, the Soundsmith Counter Intuitive for VPI tonearms is designed to assist you in dialingin the exact tracking force and azimuth on a VPI tonearm. A C-Clamp that slides over your existing counterweight, it allows easy andprecise independent adjustment of the tracking force and azimuth. Justapply the sticker and slide the Counter Intuitive over the stock weight, thenjust set the tracking force and azimuth as you normally would. Then tighten theAllen screw. Once the counterweight is tightened down, the Counter Intuitivecan be gently rotated for fine adjustments of your cartridge’s azimuthand slides back and forth for fine, accurate adjustments to yourtracking force.
Supremely IntuitiveCounter Intuitive is a “C”-Clampdesign that slides over the counterweight, allowing easy and high-precisionindependent adjustments of both tracking force and azimuth, eliminatingthe frustration of “counterweight-slide” syndrome. Once the stickerhas been applied and the Counter Intuitive has been slid overthe counterweight, set the tracking force and azimuth as you normally would.Once the counterweight has been tightened down, Counter Intuitive canbe gently rotated for fine adjustments in azimuth and slides back and forth forfine adjustments to tracking force.
Intuitively IngeniousEach Counter Intuitive is made of a thermally stable dampingpolymer composite with brass inserts. Individually hand-machined to exactingspecs, Counter Intuitive is designed to last a lifetime.Depending on which counterweight is used, Counter Intuitive allowsup to ±0.2-0.3 gm of fine tracking force adjustment plus azimuthcontrol. Counter Intuitive moves easily over theplasticized sticker, but holds position once the correct setting is achieved.
Intuitive StickersA pair of Wide stickers marked in a grid pattern are included with each CounterIntuitive. These may be cut to fit any VPI weight as shown in theimage above and are then adhered to the counterweight creating a high-level ofrepeatability. The stickers are protected with a thick 2mil clear plasticoverlay, so light markings can be made with pen, pencil or marker and laterremoved if necessary. The stickers are highly-adhesive and will affixthemselves semi-permanently to the counterweight after 24 hours, however, forthe first several hours after adhesion they can be carefully removed andrepositioned without damage.
