The EL84 tube is so undedated… there’s a reason many of the finest sounding amps ever created use these to set the stage for a grand performance. Shindo, Audio Note, Music Reference, Leak, Decware, Oliver Sayles, Leben, etc… all easily recognizable names. Tung Sol has been making this EL84/6BQ5 for over 60yrs and this tube & brand has garnered a cult-like following. Excellent midrange, snappy “alive” vibrant sound. Crisp and resolute – everything you would want in a tube amp. Not exactly lush and romantic – just the facts, please! Don’t confuse these new issue EL84. These are VERY different and the 80s vintage tubes are special!
