The Chord M-Scaler is a high-end upsampling (upsampler) device designed to act as a “digital lens” for your audio chain. It doesn’t convert digital signals to analog; instead, it takes standard inputs (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, etc.) and processes them via an extremely long, high-resolution filter (using FPGA logic and Rob Watts’ WTA filtering) to produce a higher-rate output (up to 705.6 kHz or 768 kHz) that is then fed into a DAC for conversion. The aim is to restore or “reconstruct” information lost during digital sampling, offering improved resolution, timing, and clarity. The M-Scaler uses precise control via spherical buttons on its face, and its design is stackable with Chord’s other tabletop components.
