B.B. King Signature Collection on 180g Import 2LP
B.B. King’s reign as King of the Blues was as long as that of any monarch on earth. And he wore his crown well. For more than half a century, B.B. defined the blues for a worldwide audience. Since the onset of his career in the 1940s, he released over fifty albums, many of them classics. B.B. also developed one of the world’s most identifiable guitar styles. His economy, his every-note-counts phrasing, has been a model for thousands of players, from Eric Clapton and George Harrison to Jeff Beck.
B.B. mixed traditional blues, jazz, swing, mainstream pop and jump into a unique sound all his own. In B.B.’s words, “When I sing, I play in my mind; the minute I stop singing orally, I start to sing by playing Lucille.” B.B. was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
Vinyl Passion’s B.B. King Signature Collection collects 30 classic cuts from the blues master including “Payin’ The Cost To Be The Boss,” “The Thrill Is Gone,” “Everyday I Have The Blues,” “Why I Sing The Blues,” “Three O’Clock Blues,” “Please Love Me,” “You Upset Me Baby” and”Sweet Sixteen, Part I” among many more!
“B.B. King is one of America’s few, long-standing musical treasures whose stature has grown to an unassailable, international level…His warm, downhome vocal style, his distinctive, “talking” blues guitar playing, and his songs that sing of love’s joys and hardships…are all indelibly imprinted elements in the modern musical heritage.”–Ashley Kahn
